Photo shoot

So I want to try and get in a photo shoot with Maddy this weekend...somehow I will try and fit in around taking Dakota to the eye doctors playing Golf with Dale and the kids, going to the Ball and cleaning the house....shouldn't be a problem...

I'm hoping tonight I can find time to post about our trip to the super cool train station in Topeka, and some of the pics I took today around work...that is if my stupid computer does not eat the pictures again...

What to do what to do...

So this month I am going to set a fabulous Valentines Table...and throw an awesome Toga party for 2 super cool friends Birthday's, but... I am also thinking of hosting an Oscar party... the only problem is that the Oscar's are on a Sunday, don't the Oscar people realize how much we all want to get dressed up and drink some very cheap champagne and watch the stars when awards and make ridiculous speeches?? What would you do? Have you done this before...on a Sunday??

***I have decided to pass on the Oscar party, as sad as it makes me it just may be a party to save til next year!

My attempt at Marthaness

So this weekend I found a set of 3 frames in the "$1" bins at Target while out shopping...I also found some super cute Valentine gift wrap, so I thought it would be super cute if I decoupaged the frames with the Valentines Gift wrap.

I got the frames all ready to spray paint black






After Painting I watched "V" cook us a yummy dinner


And create a cool smoke effect




After dinner "V" made me laugh and kept me entertained while I impatiently waited for the frames to dry...he's a funny guy that "V"




no really really, he's seriously older than me...waaayyyy older than me


I may have peed myself a bit when I looked at the picture afterwards and noticed his awesome chin moves...you rock my world babe!

finally the frames were all dry

so I got out my super cool Valentines wrapping paper and cut out the words I liked the most and arranged them in a pattern around the frames
.
Then I got out the magical gloop that was supposed to make all of my decoupage dreams come true


I even got a paper plate from this party out...which I thought was cool because the color of the paper plate matched the whole "project"


I slathered the goop all over my "arranged project" and waited and waited



but it looked kind of sloppy to me...and I know that I should be patient and wait...but I already knew I hated it...I mean it looks like a project I would have done when I was a teen and ripping articles out magazines to make my bulletin board cooler in my room...so I washed it all off...in my sink..under my faucet...probably not at all something I should have done in the name of craftiness, but hey it worked..and then I was back to this...



So I was bummed and cleaning up...left with only the black frames I was thinking that there was no way I was going to let my $1 go to waste and that I would somehow make use of these plain black frames...I went to put up the super awesome Valentine's wrapping paper in my wrapping paper holder when I spied another super cool roll of wrapping paper I picked up at Hallmark over a year ago for around a $1...and so I'm a genius!


And I sloppily cut out 3 different versions from the paper and sloppily placed them in the frames...and I LOVE IT!



You can't tell but the wrapping paper is flocked(?) and so the black flowers are raised with a felt like texture

The best part is that I already had these empty sad little nails in my wall which means sooo much, since we're renters and I can avoid putting holes in walls I will need to patch up before our move in a few short months...not that I wouldn't have hung up these lovely ladies any way...





So the moral is I may not be able to join any crafter's guild, but I love it and the fact that I can say I made it means so much more...I kind of understand the whole Etsy movement now!

My stupid computer ate ALLLLLLLLL of my kick butt pictures :(

I recreated my superbowl cupcakes, or what was left of them, but I lost all of the great pics of us having a great time at our friends Super Bowl Party and of the Christening for the sweetest little girl ever...I was really upset...I'm starting to get over it...it will take some time...

Yesterday the hubby and I went to a local store that is closing to do bankruptcy, they are selling all of their fixtures to include mannequins and I am on the fence about buying one so I can do pull off a front yard display like the one above next Halloween the idea is from one of my favorite stores The Curious Sofa

I can buy just legs made out of Styrofoam for $15. MY concern is will they hold up during our move?? The hubbys is not getting to excited about this idea...he says he loves what the finished product would be but I think he's not excite about keeping the legs around for a while.

We also made a trip to Wal Mart yesterday and while I was looking for cool recipes for Super Bowl cupcakes I found a new magazine that I'm already in love with! You can check it out here. Sandra Lee makes my life sooo much easier with her simple and elegant ideas!

Ok I am up to make a big breakfast everyone and head out to one of my best friends house to help prepare food for a Christening Reception she's holding today for her daughter, a very sweet baby I just want to give a million smooches to she's so sweet!

Its all Greek to me...

Ok so I must be crazy but I am throwing a "Toga" party for 2 of our good friends Birthday's in February. I'm going to give the whole party a Greek feel to it, so I'm thinking plenty of white and gold!! I'm hoping I can scam a column like these from somewhere or pick it up cheap





Then I will be heading over to Hobby Lobby to score some sweet gold chargers

And then a trip to goodwill for some fake greenery and any other crazy thing I can get my hands on amd spray paint white!!!

I will be making all kinds of "family" (part of my genetic makeup...if you couldn't tell by the crazy eyebrows) and hopefully it will all fall into place and we will feel like we're on vacation in the Mediterranean.

I also need to work out the hubs and my Toga possibilities now that he broke down what the colors the royals wore I will be out a hunting for all kinds of "royal" possibilities!

But first this weekend, we have a Christening and a Super Bowl Party to attend so alot of work to do...and god I have to put in a full day at work again tomorrow...I wish I could just stay home and plan parties...
